GENERAL MANAGER – INDUSTRIAL Hydraulic and Pneumonic DISTRIBUTION


What we do: 
Galco Industrial Electronics is an authorized distributor for over one million products from over 400 brands.  We specialize in industrial, electrical and electronic automation, control and component solutions.  Our distribution center stocks over 50,000 products and offers same day shipping and emergency service.  We offer on-site and in-house repair services, as well as, engineering services which facilitate integration, retrofits and upgrades.  Our Sterling Heights sister location, DF Burnham is looking for a General Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of warehousing, including picking of orders, shipping/receiving, inventory control, over-the-counter sales, and delivery of product to alternate company location and to customers. Some hands-on value-added duties will be required (assembly, labeling, altering of product).

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager (GM) to oversee all daily operations, sales, and logistics at our hydraulic and pneumatic distribution facility. You will be responsible for driving revenue growth, optimizing inventory, and leading our technical staff to ensure top-tier customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
Business & Sales Strategy
  • Drive top-line sales growth by identifying new market opportunities and managing key accounts.
  • Establish sales targets, develop pricing strategies, and collaborate with outside sales representatives.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing and terms with major fluid power manufacturers.
Operations & Supply Chain
  • Manage full P&L (Profit and Loss) and annual budgeting.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, product dispatch, and local delivery logistics to minimize lead times.
  • Maintain strict inventory management—ensuring critical seals, cylinders, hoses, and valves are adequately stocked while minimizing carrying costs.
Team Leadership & Customer Support
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary team including warehouse personnel, counter sales, and technical service reps.
  • Act as the final point of escalation for complex technical customer inquiries regarding hydraulic/pneumatic system troubleshooting.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of general management experience within industrial distribution, fluid power, or manufacturing.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, components, and systems.
  • Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage P&L, analyze financial performance metrics, and optimize costs.
  • Systems: Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and warehouse management software.
