Galco Industrial Electronics is an authorized distributor for over one million products from over 400 brands. We specialize in industrial, electrical and electronic automation, control and component solutions. We have an opportunity for a Materials Coordinator role within our Purchasing Department.
This position is full-time, on site at our Madison Heights office.
In this role, you are responsible for assessment and disposition of non-conforming and undesirable material, as well as ancillary functions within Purchasing. This role will be focused on efficient and fiscally prudent material routing when we face returns and problem receipts.
This person will collaborate with multiple departments to evaluate each situation and facilitate appropriate transactions while operating with the Purchasing department. The Materials Coordinator reports to the Purchasing Supervisor.
Responsibilities:

This person will collaborate with multiple departments to evaluate each situation and facilitate appropriate transactions while operating with the Purchasing department. The Materials Coordinator reports to the Purchasing Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation and disposition of problem receipts from suppliers
- Coordination with sales team on appropriate validation of customer return eligibility and pre-determined material routing
- Executing vendor returns, whether triggered by a customer return, or by recognition of undesirable material in Galco stock. This includes requests for RMAs from suppliers
- Assist Accounting personnel with requests for credit if not issued in a timely manner
- Develop a detailed understanding of suppliers’ periodic and stock rotation return policies
- Assist in development of KPI tied to customer and vendor non-conformance and return volume
- Assist Warehouse personnel in troubleshooting of inventory discrepancies
- Supplemental assistance on Rush Orders and Expedites
- Other purchasing tasks as needed
- Aptitude in problem analysis
- Proficiency in business system as well as supplemental software (MS Excel, etc.)
- Build collaborative and trusting relationships
- Effective Communication
- Multi-departmental business acumen
- Associate degree or 5+ years’ experience in Purchasing or Operations role
- Strong Team building and project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and good problem-solving skills required
- Excellent attention to detail
